Zoomed to Fail

I guess it had to happen sometime with such a huge demand being placed upon too few servers to serve too many new customers.

The Zoom platform has expanded almost exponentially over the past 6 weeks and today resulted in a PARTIAL INTERNATIONAL BREAKDOWN on what had previously been a really good service.

As a result, and most unfortunately, those of you who logged into our lunchtime meeting today were left stranded in the waiting room.

Try as I might, I was unable to allow any of the 15 or so people who were waiting to enter. I have tried using every trick in the book that I know to tweak the system, but with limited success.

After several hours of trying with different meetings in various parts of the globe, I have had partial success in some of the meetings but failure in others. As such I think it will take some time before the platform becomes 100% stable

As a result, there will be no meetings from this website on Monday 18th May

But please don't worry about not being able to meet up as usual. If the issue is not resolved by the morning of Tuesday 19th May, we at Friar Street shall take steps to come up with a contingency plan. If it is resolved, we shall therefore go ahead with our schedule as before.

Up until today, we have hosted 46 Virtual meetings at Friar Street since March, and this is the first time we've had problems, so we can't really complain eh?

So please check back before Tuesday morning to see what we have been able to come up with.

Meanwhile, lets all stay safe, stay well, and most important- stay sober.
